John Fetterman is an American politician and current Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania. He is known for his bold fashion choices and is easily recognizable because of his large tattoos. His most notable tattoo is the words “Steel, Faith, Honor” inked across the entire span of his forearms. The tattoo is a tribute to his upbringing in the steel town of Braddock, Pennsylvania and refers to the steel-making industry of the region; a source of pride for the town and its people. Fetterman also has a tattoo on his left forearm of a rosary, a Catholic liturgical object often used for prayer and meditation. This tattoo is a symbol and reminder of Fetterman’s faith and his parents’ devout Catholicism. He also has a Battlegrounds tattoo on his left shoulder that symbolizes his time spent in AmeriCorps, a volunteer organization he worked for in South Central, Los Angeles. Finally, Fetterman has a large black-inked tattoo of a line running up his side (from his hip to his shoulder) that symbolizes a line on a map stemming from Braddock to Harrisburg, the capital of Pennsylvania. This tattoo pays homage to Fetterman’s political path and serves as a reminder that his hometown of Braddock is always by his side, giving him strength and resolve.
