ROSES Tattoo Meaning

I would go far as to say that roses are probably the most tattooed design ever in all its various shapes and forms. Don’t quote me on that but roses are tattoo designs in their own right, then they are also used to border other designs and to fill gaps in sleeves. What is used more than roses?

Roses are symbols of love. The rose was used along with the heart symbol right at the start of modern tattoo as the two primary tattoos to symbolize love and the humble rose tattoo has gone from strength to strength ever since.

The earliest recorded instance of roses being associated with love that I found was, as ever, the Greeks. They heavily associated roses with both Aphrodite and Venus, goddesses of love.

So obviously roses, and in particular the red rose, symbolize love. But what do the other colours of rose mean?

White roses symbolize innocence and humility. Yellow roses represent friendship and joy. Pink surprisingly represents gratitude, admiration and appreciation. Orange roses symbolize enthusiasm and desire. Both lilac and purple colour roses represent infatuation and love at first sight.

You may also want to give some thought to the number of petals on the rose or the number of roses as these numbers can be used to represent some kind of hidden meaning for you.
