1488 is a combination of two very popular white supremacist symbols. The numbers 14 and 88 are commonly used by white supremacists as code for two seperate ideologies. The number 14 stands for the white supremacist slogan “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children”, while 88 stands for the 8th letter of the alphabet which stands for “Heil Hitler”. Together, 14 and 88 represent a white nationalist outlook and commonly appear as a tattoo as a sign of allegiance to neo-Nazi beliefs.
