A semi-permanent tattoo is a type of tattoo that is designed to last for a period of time, usually between one and four years, before fading away. Semi-permanent tattoos are also sometimes referred to as “stain tattoos” as opposed to other types of tattoos which are considered permanent, such as traditional tattoos, which are created using a process of tattooing colored ink into the skin. The process of creating a semi-permanent tattoo is similar to traditional tattooing, but the ink used is made to be incredibly durable and withstand the elements, such as from sun or other forms of exposure to light, water and sweat. Typically, with a semi-permanent tattoo, the color will start to fade after about one to three years, but the design will still remain in the skin for several more years.
